"On Tap" by Annie Mayer was a very heartfelt fascinating perfomance of mostly tap dance, but incorprating other elements like salsa, soft shoe, and African dance.
'Pasion Gitana' acoompanied by the Gipsy Kings was a standout, as was 'The Slow Soft Shoe' over sand, which had I thought, the most precise dancing of the evening.
I would suggest the sand dance be at the end of the evening to avoid a lengthy (it seemed) sweepup of the sand, which was a bit distracting. Or incorporate the sweeping into some choreography.
'Metronome Improv' got the audience involved by passing out percussive instruments that we could play.
The most emotional piece of the eveing was 'For You', choreographed for her husband, who was in the audience.
A bit of criticism: Locking the door once the performance started would have helped, because several people came right in late into the show, also staggering the chairs to provide better sighlines for the audience.
These things were minor. I don't usually go to that many dance shows, but found the style and choreography to be very inspiring, fun, and first rate.
I look forward to seeing Annie dance with her ensemble 'Metronome' sometime in the future.
